Makes 4 to 6 cups of pecans
When I was teaching, I often received homemade gifts from students. All were greatly appreciated. This was one of my favorites and it is so ridiculously easy. Thanks, Jessica, for the treat and your mother's recipe.
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 to 6 cups pecan halves
Boil water; add sugar and stir until dissolved. Add the pecans and continue to cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until pecans are covered and liquid is evaporated. Place pecans in one layer on cookie sheet. Bake in preheated 350° F. oven for about 10 minutes or until the pecans turn whitish in color. Cool completely before packaging in plastic bags or tins.
