I love a good homemade pie. My grandmothers and my mother were excellent pie bakers. As a child, we had pie with every Sunday dinner and for every special occasion. I guess the most frightening part of making any pie is the crust. But with a good recipe (see my Favorite Pie Crust) and a little care you can't go wrong. And, when you're in a hurry, there are some reasonably good packaged pie crusts on the market.
