Barbecue Pizza

Make in any amount

This recipe started as an experiment. I was making my Caramelized Onions and Cheese Pizza, which is in the similar and related recipes, and I had some homemade barbecue sauce leftover from a previous meal. I decided to try a little of the sauce on a portion of the pizza. We all liked it very much. Since then, I have made the pizza with other toppings, such as leftover cooked pork, chicken, ground beef and other vegetables. It is also very good made like a regular pizza, using the barbecue sauce as a base instead of tomato sauce and topped with cheese. Use your imagination. Homemade barbecue sauce is very quick and easy to make. When you have time, you can make a whole batch and freeze it in portions to use in your favorite recipes.

Ingredients
   Toppings (Choose one or more)

Preheat oven to 450° F. If using raw dough, shape it into desired shape. Place on a pizza pan or baking sheet. Top with cooked meats or vegetables, then spoon some sauce on top, ending with some grated cheese. (Herbs or spices can be added, but are not necessary with a well-seasoned barbecue sauce.) Bake until dough is done and the toppings are hot, 10 to 15 minutes, or according to package of prebaked crust.
