This is a collection of soup recipes, some of which have been passed down through several generations of my Pennsylvania Dutch family, a few that I learned from Italian friends, and the remainder of my own creation. When I want "comfort food", soup is my first choice. Soup is fun to make, delicious to eat, healthy and nutritious in most presentations, serves a crowd, makes great leftovers, and just plain comforting to the body and soul. Some soups seem best during the cooler months of the year, but lighter soups are equally good in the summer. I have categorized the soup and chowder recipes three ways; soups in which the primary ingredient is beans, soups with a creamy base, and all other soups, such as brothy vegetable soups. Additionally, there are several homemade stocks and broths that may be used as a soup base or in other applications. Finally, I have included a link to soup recipes from visitors. So make up a big pot of comfort and enjoy!
