HEARTY STEW AND CHOWDER RECIPES

[Winter] When the weather turns cold, I start to crave heartier meals, those that are too heavy during the heat of the summer. Here in southeastern North Carolina, cold weather is sporadic and short-lived. Stews and chowders are some of my favorite cold weather recipes. I look forward to the occasional opportunity to make my old standbys, or have fun and create. I decided it would be more convenient to place those recipes on a separate page than to sift through the various pages on which they were originally posted. For cross-reference, they shall remain under the old listings as well. So, browse through the recipes, find a favorite and enjoy! By the way, most stews and some chowders are even better made ahead and reheated. Many freeze well.
