SPICY OVEN CROUTONS

INGREDIENTS

Pour oil into a 13 x 9-inch pan to make an even layer. Cut sliced bread into 1/2-inch cubes and toss to coat evenly with oil. Add a little more oil if necessary. Sprinkle with your choice of spices, tossing them to coat evenly. Bake at 300° F for about 30 minutes or until browned and crispy, turning croutons at least three times to avoid overbrowning. If you desire, after they have baked for 15 minutes or so, add a sprinkling of grated cheese for extra flavor. Refrigerate or freeze. These are excellent in onion soup.
