Taco Casserole

Janet writes: "My family is a huge fan of this easy casserole, and it would work well for a potluck recipe."
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1 can (15-ounces) chili beans
- 2 cups coarsely broken tortilla chips
- 1 can (8-ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons taco sauce
- 1/2 cup sliced green onions with tops
- 2 to 4 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or jack cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
Preheat oven to 350° F. Cook and stir ground beef in a 10-inch skillet until brown; drain. Stir in beans, tomato sauce, taco sauce, chili powder and garlic salt. Heat to boiling.

Place chips in an ungreased 2-quart casserole or 12x7x2-inch baking dish. Top with the beef mixture. Spread with sour cream. Sprinkle with the onions, tomato and cheese. Bake, uncovered, until hot and bubbly, 20 to 30 minutes. Arrange additional tortilla chips around the edge of the casserole. Serve with shredded lettuce, chile peppers and salsa, if desired.
