Ingredients
- 2 pounds round steak, cut into serving sizes
- Pinch of salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic (more if you like garlic)
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon canola or other cooking oil
- 3/4 cup catsup (ketchup)
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cup chopped green pepper
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
Preheat oven to 325° F. Combine salt, pepper and garlic. Rub thoroughly into meat on both sides. Place meat in bowl, pour vinegar over meat, marinate at least 4 hours or overnight. Drain meat well; discard marinade. Brown meat in oil in a Dutch oven. Combine catsup and remaining ingredients and spoon over meat. Cover and bake for 2-1/2 or 3 hours. If steak becomes dry, add water to keep moist. Thicken sauce to gravy with flour and water paste. (I like to add Gravy Master to give it a nice warm color.) Serve with noodles or mashed potatoes and your favorite vegetable.
