White Sandwich Bread

(Bread Machine Recipe)
Makes one 1-1/2 pound loaf

This recipe is based on one I found on a bag of King Arthur Bread Flour. Bread flour is made specifically for bread machines. It is higher in protein, making it good for bread machines, but it works as well with heavy-duty stand mixers and large processors. The texture of this bread is especially appropriate for sandwiches or toast.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter, preferably unsalted, melted
  • 2-1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3-1/4 cups bread flour
  • 2-1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

Add the ingredients in the order given or as indicated for your machine. Use the basic white setting for light crust. Bake according to manufacturer's instructions.
