I love a potluck or covered dish gathering, whether for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. There is always a wide variety of foods from which to choose and I usually find something new and interesting. For this page, I have listed some of my favorite personal recipes that travel well, some of which are not typically found on a potluck buffet, others that are my versions of common dishes. Many are quick and easy, some take a bit more time, most of which is hands-off cooking time. Additionally, I have posted potluck recipes shared by contributors. This page does not include all of the recipes posted on the TerisKitchen.com website that can be served at potlucks. Notably missing are sandwiches, wraps, pizza, soups and green salads, all of which are appropriate depending on the theme of the dinner. Those items, as well as most anything else you do not find on this page, can be found by using the search box or by browsing the Recipes, Features and Resources Index.
When planning a potluck event, the host or hostess should monitor the types of foods, requesting a balance of appetizers, salads, main dishes, side dishes and desserts, while taking into consideration the time of day and people with food preferences, especially vegetarians. Contributors should choose recipes that are good warm or at room temperature unless will you have the equipment to keep foods hot or the facilities to reheat them before serving. Place cold foods, such as salads, fruits, vegetables and dressings in a small cooler until serving time. Ingredients for tossed green salads should be packaged separately and assembled at the event.
