Bake cake according to box. Bring pineapple and one cup sugar to a boil, cool slightly, then pour over baked cake. Mix vanilla pudding, using 1/2 cup less milk than indicated. Spread pudding over pineapple. Add cool whip, top with sprinkled nuts. Add shredded coconut last. Refrigerate until serving.
