Eight Grain Bread

(Bread Machine Recipe)
Makes one 2-pound loaf

This is an excellent bread recipe that incorporates whole grains. Using some all-purpose flour with the whole grain flour keeps the texture light, making it perfect for toasting or sandwiches. This recipe is for the bread machine, but can be made using other kneading and baking methods.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2-3/4 cups all-purpose unbleached flour
  • 1-1/2 cups 8 grain flour, or mixture of whole grain flours to equal 1-1/2 cups
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Place ingredients in bread pan and bake according to manufacturer's instructions for a 2 pound, wheat bread, medium crust loaf. Cool completely before slicing.
