Chocolate Spiders Candy

Makes about 36 candies

This is a variation of the butterscotch haystacks candy, which is in the similar and related recipes. Both candies are quick and easy, perfect for making with young children. Make them for Halloween, Easter or for a sweet treat on any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces chocolate chips (see note below)
  • 6 ounces chow mein noodles
  • 1/2 cup dry roasted peanuts

Place the chocolate chips in a medium bowl. Place over a pot of simmering water, making certain the water does not touch the bottom of the bowl. Stir constantly until melted. Remove from heat and quickly stir in the noodles and nuts. Drop in desired sizes, about one tablespoon each, onto parchment or wax paper. Refrigerate until well-chilled, at least several hours. Keep refrigerated in a covered container until serving.

Notes: Use any chocolate chips you prefer, either semisweet or bittersweet. You can also use a different nut. Cashews would be excellent.
