Recipes for Leftover Barbecue Sauce

Whether you use bottled barbecue sauce or make your own from scratch, as in the recipes in the similar and related recipes, you are bound to have more than you need for one application. There are many obvious ways to deal with the leftovers, including refrigerating or freezing. Here are a few suggestions for using extra barbecue sauce in different presentations.

  • Pizza - Make a quick and easy Barbecue Pizza, using your choice of suggested toppings.

  • Meatloaf or Meatballs - Use the sauce inside and as the topping for your favorite meatloaf or meatballs recipe.

  • Sauce for Pasta - If desired, thin it a bit with some whole, crushed tomatoes. Heat and toss with pasta.

  • Barbecue Sandwiches - Freeze in small portions then defrost and mix with leftover meats, such as a roast, for quick barbecue sandwiches.

Note: If you know you will want to save sauce for a future use, be certain it does not become contaminated by raw meat the first time around.
