Ten Great Smoothies

Fran writes: "I got the idea for these recipes from a Martha Stewart show. There's something here for every taste. Alcohol may be substituted for some of the milk in any of the smoothies."

Pear Smoothie

Serves 1
  • 2/3 cup canned pears, drained
  • 2/3 cup milk

Summer Smoothie

Serves 1 to 2   "Try this shake in the summer when peaches are in season."
  • 1 peach, cut
  • 1 kiwi, peeled and cut
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 cup milk

Nectarine Blueberry Smoothie

Serves 1   "A smoothie kids will love."
  • 1 nectarine, cut
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • Milk

Cantaloupe Banana Smoothie

Serves 1
  • 2/3 cup diced cantaloupe
  • 1 banana
  • Milk

Prune Banana Smoothie

Serves 1
  • 6 dried prunes
  • 1 banana
  • Milk

Pina Colada Smoothie

Serves 2
  • 2 bananas
  • 1-1/2 cups pineapple, fresh or canned
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • 2 or 3 dates (optional)
  • 1-2 tablespoons shredded coconut
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • Ice cubes

Two Berry Smoothie

Serves 1 to 2
  • 1 banana
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup fresh halved strawberries
  • 1/2 cup milk

Easy Tropical Fruit Smoothie

Serves 1 to 2   "This shake is made with canned tropical fruit salad, a good solution when fresh fruits are unavailable."
  • 1 cup canned tropical fruit salad, drained
  • 1/2 cup milk

Coffee Lover's Smoothie

Serves 2
  • 1-1/2 milk
  • 1/2 cup cold coffee
  • 2-3 ice cubes
  • 2 bananas
  • Dash of cinnamon

Mango Nectarine Smoothie

Serves 1 to 2
  • 1 nectarine, cut
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup mango pieces
  • 1/2 cup milk
