When the weather turns cold, I crave heartier meals. Stews, soups and chowders are some of my favorite winter weather recipes. Some are quick and easy, others a bit more labor intensive or slow cooking. All make a delicious one pot meal, perhaps with some crusty bread or a salad on the side. I always look forward to the opportunity to make my old standbys, or have fun and create new dishes. Even though these recipes are posted elsewhere throughout TerisKitchen.com, I decided to compile them in one place for convenience. The choices include meat, poultry, seafood and some vegetarian dishes, including some shared by contributors. Most stews and soups, as well as some chowders, are even better made a day or two ahead and reheated, so they can be prepared when you have some free time. Additionally, many freeze well, so you can plan ahead, make extra and freeze for another comforting meal on a busy weeknight. I hope you find a few favorites and enjoy!
